Checklist To Inspecting Windows
- Observe windows from the exterior and interior
- Search for cracked, broken, and missing panes
- Locate any failed insulated glass (IG) units replaced with a single sheet of glass and puttied into place
- Check for windows painted shut or stuck.
- Look for any loose panes.
- Detect missing, cracked, loose, chipped putty
- Examine wood sections for cracks and rot.
- Notice any rust on steel windows hampering operation.
- Note any trim needing scraping and painting
- Survey the windows for evidence of fogged windows.
- Remember windows are imperfect and very few houses have a complete and flawless set.
- Look for trends of recurring deficiencies when going from window to window
