Checklist To Inspecting Windows

• Observe windows from the exterior and interior
• Search for cracked, broken, and missing panes
• Locate any failed insulated glass (IG) units replaced with a single sheet of glass and puttied into place
• Check for windows painted shut or stuck.
• Look for any loose panes.
• Detect missing, cracked, loose, chipped putty
• Examine wood sections for cracks and rot.
• Notice any rust on steel windows hampering operation.
• Note any trim needing scraping and painting
• Survey the windows for evidence of fogged windows.
• Remember windows are imperfect and very few houses have a complete and flawless set.
• Look for trends of recurring deficiencies when going from window to window
