Home Study Frequently Asked Questions

Why is your course less expensive than other courses on the market?
Our main goal is to provide a quality course for an affordable fee. Our course is approved by states for 40 hours of instruction time which is equivalent to the length of a college course. Therefore, our course is priced as you would pay for a 3 hour semester course. As an added bonus, you will receive 2 complete checklist reports to use on your first inspections. You can earn fees that more than pays for the course on your first inspections. That's a great return on your investment.
How long does it take to complete this course?
Depending on the amount of time you devote to studying, most students complete the course in 3-4 weeks. Some students take longer and if you need it you've got up to 24 months to finish.
What do you receive when the course is completed?
Upon successful completion of this course you'll receive a diploma with your final grade for the course affirming your knowledge and skills in home inspections. It is the symbol of your accomplishment and know-how.
How does the course work?
The home inspection course is a career development program you take at home. You study, read, and review at your own pace. The course consists of 9 units with a total of 17 lessons. After each lesson there is a quiz the student completes and mails, e-mails, or faxes the completed quiz.
How long does it take for the quizzes to be graded?
Quizzes arriving each morning are graded, recorded, and returned to the student.
How is my grade figured?
Instead of having one final exam at the end of the course, there are 17 quiz grades averaged to arrive at a final grade.
What do I receive when I enroll in the course?
All materials will arrive at once so you will be able to progress from lesson to lesson without delay.
Can I mail more than one lesson at a time?
Yes, you may send more than one lesson at a time. However, we do discourage sending more than one unit.
What is the overall objective of the course?
We teach you to inspect each system and to report your observations according to state and national standards. There is a brief overview at the beginning of each lesson with clearly stated objectives and practical tips to inspecting. Through your reading assignments, skill builders, case studies and review exercises you will learn the methods and techniques used by home inspectors.
What will I need to take this course?
Everything you need is supplied with the course.
How can home study be as good as classroom training.
Studies show students who take a course through home study do just as well as those in a classroom setting. Studying at home lets you progress through each lessons at your own pace. You can move through the materials quickly or as slowly as suits you. Students find it easier because they can schedule study time when it best fits their life style and family responsibilities. Classroom study is set for a particular time with little flexibility. Rather than miss class because of weather, sickness, etc you can just reschedule your study time at home.
Is there any other good reason to take a home study course?
Home inspection courses are not taught in every town or city. Most time you have to go where the course is being taught. Most in-depth courses last a week or two. Along with the cost of the course there is an expense for air travel, lodging, meals, etc. Also you may need to take vacation time from your present job or take time off without pay. All this adds up to very expensive training.
